It's been such a long time since iRover had a trip together. So we had been planning this trip since, well our last trip last month in Fraser's Hill.

Our boss Dr. Kwong had not been able to join on the last trip so we tailored this trip for him, a long weekend getaway to Pulau Perhentian Kecil, Terengganu, also known as one of the best island in Malaysia!

Located at the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, we had long been anticipating this trip as we always heard people saying Perhentian was one of the island with the best water quality and in short, it didn't disappoint!

A month before the trip, we got in contact with Mohsin Chalet on Perhentian Kecil Island and went on to book an Air-Cond Chalet and also a few beds in the dorm. Cost us RM440 per pax for the Chalet and RM295 for the Dorm, both full-board package though.

Almost all the boat to Perhentian leaves at Jeti Kuala Besut, the tricky part is from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Besut. Kuala Besut is a small town located in between Kuala Terengganu and Kota Bahru. Some of the traveller opt to travel with planes may land themselves in Kota Bahru and there will be taxis and shuttle that get you all from the airport straight to Kuala Besut jetty.

Day 1

As for us, we chose to drive, all the way from Kuala Lumpur. So we departed in midnight, hoping to catch the early morning boat at 8am. Drove for more than 6 hours and finally we were there at Kuala Besut. Parking was handle by some locals and normally it cost RM10 for parking the car in their house.

We got on the boat after we had our breakfast near the Jetty at around 9am, took us about 30mins on a speed boat and pooof! We had arrived at the island.

Look at the sea, look at the water, look at the sun! Feels like wanna jump straight into the water once we got off the boat.

We got off at the Long Beach jetty which is exactly the opposite of where we were gonna stay. So we took a walk in the mid day under the hot sun across the 'Long' beach to Mohsin Chalet.

Mohsin Chalet was built on some stilt style structure just by the hillside on the southern part of the Long Beach.

No private beach but boy look at the view from their restaurant, I say it was one of the best place on the island.

While waiting for our room to be ready, we were just hanging around the restaurant and be amazed by the scenery of Long Beach.

So the itinerary for the first day was free and easy, so the first thing we did was REST. Damn we were so tired! We stroll around the restaurant, had our lunch and basically just enjoying the view until around 4-5pm then we went down to the sea and had some fun.

It started raining before sunset and we went back to have some rest in the Chalet and came out again for dinner in the night.

I must say I did not expect much on the food quality as refer to my past experience in Redang but the food was good, beyond everything I'm expecting!

We hung around at the restaurant and have some chit-chatting before we went to bed.

Day 2

Well, Day 2 is the blockbuster of the trip and we were well rested the day before to be ready for all the heavy activities of the day. As according to our itinerary, we will be going go for a half day snorkelling trip of 5 different locations.

PS: Something really bad happened on this day!!!

I walked into the sea while still having both phones in my pants! The result was the immediate death of my phone and it left Charlie's phone limping after I fixed it when we were back.

So, back to the story, the first point was the Taman Laut Perhentian Besar just not far away from the Long Beach and to our surprise, the water is sorta clear and with lots of fishes attacking us. We saw quite some coral laying around at the bottom as well but all of them were man made.

We spent around 45 minutes here and went on to the second point where it was suppose to be full of soft coral but we were busy having fun with the drone and the diving shots so I couldn't tell if there is anything special there. Water are not as clear as earlier one but it was shining green.

Had our lunch at Kampung Nelayan, the fishing village on the Main island before we moved on to a very clean and isolated beach. The water was super clear and perfect for some birdeye view of us swimming.

Then it was the shark point and turtle point where we only saw 2 turtles wandering at the bottom of the sea. Not the best of luck but it satisfy us. We were kinda tired at that point so we went back after that and prepare for the hike to the windmill!

According to the locals, the windmill was initially planned and built to power the whole island but due to unknown reason, it was not functional so far. Nonetheless it still looks pretty nice standing there on the island as a landmark.

The hike to the top of the hill housing the windmill took us less than 20 minutes. It was pretty easy with some rocky path in the beginning followed by some dirt all the way up to the top.

Sunset was at the other side of the windmill observatory but with the help of the drone we were able to witness some of the most magnificent view of the island during the sunset!

The night ended with us chilling around the restaurant area and some of us went down to the beach to have some fun with the fire show.

We departed from the beach the next day afternoon and comes the most unforgettable drive so far in my life. We took 12 hours to drive from Kelantan back to KL! The traffic jam after the holiday was just crazy!

And all these happens while I was having severe 3rd degree sunburn up on my shoulder, in fact all of us were having sunburn but I was the only one with sunburn blisters.

Well enough of the whining, the Perhentian Kecil island trip was a long awaited one and we will definitely go back there again in the future. Overall it is a perfect trip for a long weekend to relax and chill yourself with crystal clear water and white sandy beaches as well as some entertainment with beer and bonfire.

This is just a short one as the trip itself isn't long. However the fun we had within this group of people is endless!
