It's been ages since iRover had an outing anywhere! Most of us are working right now and busy for our own life, but never mind, we are having a trip anyway.
We've been planning this trip since a few months ago and initially we were planning to go for a hike at Chilling Falls before we move on to the top of the hill.
There are 3 different cars that are going up the hill and we are departing from KL. Fraser's hill, just like Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands, is another cooling spot located within the Titiwangsa Mountain Range, though lesser known to public, it is quite a nice place to go during a weekend.
It is located at the north of Kuala Lumpur with about 1.5 hours of journey if you are driving. Get on the PLUS highway and take the exit at Bukit Beruntung. Follow the signboard to Kuala Kubu Bahru and when you sees the massive Selangor Dam on your way, you are in the right way.
Our group split into 3 cars and we were there around 10am. Unfortunately after much incidents with our abang Papus's car, we decided to skip the hike to Chilling Falls and go straight up to the top of the hill. The time is already 12pm when we depart from Selangor Dam.
Selangor Dam is the Largest and deepest Reservoir in the Central Peninsular and it supplies the water to nearly 60% of the people in the Klang Valley. The biggest attraction of the reservoir is to watch it overflow over the spillway and it can sometimes get very powerful. Normally the overflow will start around April until around the end of July where the water level is going to drop real fast following the dry season in Malaysia.
We had some relaxing moment at the observation deck by the side of the reservoir while we were waiting for our buddies and we finally depart at around afternoon. The route ascending to the hilltop was more or less like any other mountainous road in Malaysia such as Cameron Highland. Most of the road is covered in dense rainforest with occasional opening through the top and we went by a few waterfalls along the way.

The Journey to the top took about 45 mins and our location of accommodation is located at the Silverpark Resort. I believe it was constructed as an apartment for the locals and some of them were taken as a holiday homes and also rented out as a vacation homes for the tourist.
The place we rented had 2 rooms and a total capacity of up to 8 pax, well maintained and very cozy. Most of the time the temperature there are very cooling and need not any air-conditioning.
We rested there for an hour or 2 before we decide to make up the missed hiking trip to Chilling Waterfall with a short trip to Jeriau Waterfall.

Jeriau Waterfall is just 15mins drive away from our apartment and on the day we went, there are some minor construction along the road into the falls and we were lucky to had missed the road blockage and were able to go in there just in time for some shower.
The hike into the fall took us about 15 mins and it was not very challenging, steps were well laid all the way to the falls itself. The main fall is a cascading falls with a drop of about 10m in height and the water was damn COLD! We had some fun there before the sky starting to turn slightly dark signifying a coming rain or sort.

We brought our own tools and equipments for the night and there you go, super stomach fillable steamboat for Dinner!
Most of us were tired after the dinner but there are still one of the biggest event coming up. Some star photography tutorial and lessons!
The sky wasn't clear throughout the night, in fact it was in a total cloud cover by the end of our dinner and we thought the chance of seeing a clear sky was kinda slim.

Thank god the sky cleared up and we were out scavenge for places that are suitable for some real cark sky photo with any light pollution. And here are the results, absolutely stunningly beautiful night sky with long awaited milkyway.
In fact, almost all of us never see a real visible milky way before except me. Haha.
We stayed up until around 3am and clouds started to come in again so we went back to our resort and had a good night sleep.

The next morning we woke up at around 9-10am and cooking some of the leftover from yesterday's dinner as our breakfast.
We then cleaned the house and left Fraser hill around noon.
Fraser Hills had loong been one of the best spot for Star photography as well as Bird Photography, we met with some of the birders during our visit to Jeriau Waterfalls.
At only 1.5 hours away from KL, I say this is one of the must visit place for a short weekend getaway.
